A yellow cake originally named by Grams as her ‘1234 Cake’. Each number represents the portions of different ingredients. It was the first cake I learned how to make at age 12. It is used for coconut, pineapple filling. Delight as your taste buds are caressed by fluffy cake and sprinkled hints of fresh coconut!
Homemade Carolina Carrot Cake,
A carrot cake inspired by Grams cousin, Emma. My grandmother’s cousin is straight from Greensboro North Carolina. She originally made the carrot cake as a tart then Grams revised it to be a nice delicate moist cake; the recipe I use today. Revel in the aromatic spiced sweetness of old fashioned southern carrot cake!
The Brooklyn Bakers Special Red Velvet Cake,
I first tasted red velvet cake as a teenager down in Georgia at my Aunt Cheryl's house. Today’s recipe was inspired by my mentor, Cake Man Raven. Later I modified the recipe, while holding true to its rich moist flavorful intent. Each decadent bite combines moist cake and icing, melting as it hits the tongue.
Mama’s Florida 7up Cake,
7up pound cake is inspired by Mother Clarke, a member of our church. Grams and I would ask her to make that cake almost every other week! The original recipe was given to my grandmother because we were so fond of the delicious lemony 7up flavor. The scent of lemony cake wafting through the house signals the senses of all within its reach!
America’s Pride Chocolate Cake,
During the Second World War, you couldn't just walk into a store and buy as much sugar or butter as you wanted. Because these items were rationed, you were only allowed to buy a small amount (even if you could afford more). The government introduced rationing because certain items were in short supply. After tasting this rationed ingredient cake, I altered the recipe, adding back the core ingredients that were so limited. Satisfy your chocolate cravings with one mouthful of this truly decadent, rich chocolate cake!
Blissful Southern Banana Pudding,
The banana pudding inspired by Mrs. Mary Williams who regularly brought this dish for community gatherings. I modified this recipe at age 13 and made it into the current DOCD flavor you taste today. It’s a light, rich, fluffy, brow-lifting texture amazing the taste buds on contact!
